365 Moments of Clarity – Day 24 2014

Welcome to Day 24 of 365 Moments of Clarity Project

Today’s Moclar Moment came to me at breakfast. I was sitting around the table with some friends of mine discussing our experiences as children and raising the children of today. As I sat listening to their stories I realized that each of us have a very unique and interesting experience. The way we grew up… how are parents raised us, how we are raising our children, how we interact with our environment… All of these elements very different.

Yet, we are all confident and happy people. It didn’t matter our past or how we were raised. What matter was how we looked at it today.

When you are in a transitional phase in your life, there are times where you may want to compare. What I learned in that breakfast was that comparing was impossible. My breakfast companions and I all arrived in this current place of peace and happiness even though our journey here was traversed diversely. We didn’t live our past stories. We told them with heroic feats of rebellion or stern pride of obeying the rules of the household. Yet, not one of us lived in those moments. It was as if we could have been sharing a tall tale around the campfire.

We laughed, we gasped, we ooooed, we aaaaahhhed, at each other’s stories and each of us seen a new light from each story that was shared. But the beauty I saw was that with each past telling there was the overwhelming sense that that was then and this is now. This new light that was shone upon us was in this moment, this current experience of life.

We all arrived to this place no matter which road we took. That is why there is always a road less traveled for each of us. There is hope no matter where you are or where you come from.

Ideally, we have all arrived at this place of beauty and are there all the time if we just awaken enough to see that. In actuality, one may even go so far as to say there is no road. Because you have always been there where you want to be and always will be. There may be times where it seems you are not, but know down deep inside you are. If you are looking for love, love is always there inside of you. If you are looking for abundance, abundance is always there inside of you. If you are looking for adventure, adventure is always waiting for you.

That really is the secret. It’s not about finding the road, it is about taking off your blinders to know that you have arrived at your journey in every moment you are experiencing life.

I walked away from that breakfast with the biggest smile to see how we are all different in experience but similar in emotion. I LOVE meeting people, and sharing their energy, their stories and how they live in this present moment of now. It is so beautiful! It is an honorable gift to both listen and share an experience with another.

The moral of this story, is to not compare your growth or where you are at. It is to see your journey as exactly what it should be. You are your experience. You choose how you feel about that experience. Instead of comparing, share you story of learning so that other people may have a chance to grow from it. There may be someone out there that needs to hear it so they can take off their blinders and see that they are exactly where they are supposed to be today.

Daily Exercise

Today’s exercise is all about listening, sharing and being with friends, acquaintances or strangers. It is all about connection. Actively listen to the stories of your friends. Share your tall tales of life experiences. It is not a challenge of whose was better or worse but instead it is an event of sharing and a comfort to know that your experience is exactly as it should be as their experience was as exactly as theirs should have been. Laugh, cry, love, hug, smile, joke and most importantly enjoy.

Give yourself permission to be authentically you.

I feel called to share a Affirmation or two…

I am authentically me.

I am proud of my experiences.

I stand tall to share my story.

I listen to what needs to be heard.

If you feel drawn to share your story, I am always blessed to receive it. Namaste.
