Welcome to Day 19 of 365 Moments of Clarity Project
Today’s MoClar moment comes from a gratitude prayer I wrote back in 2011. I see it just as relevant today as I did the moment I thought it.
- Thank you for the wisdom to know I am doing the right action.
- Thank you for the courage to go beyond my comfort zone.
- Thank you for the timing to know when I am ready.
- Thank you for the perseverance to never quit and always follow through.
- But most importantly, Thank you for the initiative to begin.
Today I would like to delve into timing and how you know you are ready. I never guessed on my birthday on December 17, 2010 that in just a few short weeks I would be take a vow of celibacy and devote myself to spirituality for 1 full year. If you would have asked me on December 16th if I was ready for such a change, I would have no doubt told you, you were crazy. The universe knew I was ready and that it was time to begin my next chapter. The universe sent me some synchronized moments to mentally prepare me and excite me for the year ahead.
First the universe sent me a book called “Zen and the Art of Happiness.” Then just a short 10 days later sent me a another book called “365 Tao”. Now the interesting part was finding both those books. I had never heard of either one of them and honestly would never have sought them out.
“Zen and the Art of Happiness” came to me as I was shopping for my birthday outfit at Anthropologie. I was looking around the store trying to decide what I wanted when I casually walked over to the table that had a couple of books on it. I looked over a few of them and read the first couple of pages. But then I picked up “Zen and the Art of Happiness” and experienced these words…
“There is only one way to achieve lasting happiness. That way is simply: Be happy.”
The next paragraph goes on to say everything I was thinking. “It’s not that easy.” “It’s too simple.” “This author is crazy.” And all I could think was how in the heck is he going to prove that to me. That intrigued me so much, I had to purchase the book. I must say again, the universe knew what it was doing.
Now, I am not that fast of reader but the book is only 142 pages and very small pages at that. The book dimensions is only 4.5″ x 7″. I started that book that night on my birthday and read it solid for 7 days just before bed. I had never heard of Tao or The Way in my life. But by December 24th of 2010, my life would be forever changed.
I was invited to a friend’s house for Christmas. I didn’t know we were exchanging presents. She purchased this frame for me and inside it was the poem, “Almost as good as your Dog”, unknown author. I felt horrible. 🙁
On December 27, 2010, I went to Barnes and Noble to purchase a book for her for Christmas. Yes, I know I was late. I was looking all around when I came to the faith section. My friend has a strong faith in Christianity. I started looking at some of the daily bible reading books. I thought, yes, she will LOVE this.
Right next to that section was all the other faiths. I was familiar with Buddhism and thought maybe I would pick me up a 365 daily inspiration book in Buddhism. I looked at a couple of them but nothing resonated. Then like out of the blue, a small green cover over in the corner caught my attention and it was called “365 Tao”. I picked it up, this being now the second time in 1 week that I have seen this word Tao. I read the first page and seen these words…
“In the beginning, all things are hopeful.”
I knew right then and there, I was ready. It was time. My life was changing; my chapter starting. This book was my induction into a world of wonder.
Daily Movement Meditation
The beauty of timing and synchronicity is that they just befall us when we are ready. The only way to recognize them is to open your awareness to the natural flow of life. Movement is one of the most beautiful ways to sync with your rhythm. For this meditation, I would like you to put on some music that is flowing with movement. Preferable no words. Not really fast but more rhythmic. Yoga dance or Shiva Rea comes to mind as an option or Chakradance is another one.
The goal is to open your energy centers or chakras. Choose the music that resonates with you. Perform this meditation at night. Light a candle or two and remove all unnatural light from the room. Put on the music and close your eyes. Now dance to the rhythm of your soul. This can last anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour. Dance fast, dance slow, it doesn’t matter. This is your calling, your time to connect.
As you wind down and eventually stop, take a moment in Savasana pose or also known as Corpse pose to quiet your mind further. Give thanks to the energies for the connection. When you are ready, start moving and open your eyes to awaken to new world full of opportunities and synchronicities.
Sleep well, dream well and see what the universe has in store for you over the next couple of days. But don’t look for it. Let the universe bring you what you need.
If you feel drawn to share your story, I am always blessed to receive it. Namaste.
